About Sam:
Sam Michelle is a New Zealand born artist who has lived in Melbourne Australia since 2001. She has two young boys and enjoys being a mum whilst painting full-time in her home studio. Sam comes from some talented Grandparents. On her paternal side, her Grandpa was a successful painter & her Granny a stunning sketch artist. On her maternal side Sams has a Jewellery designing Grandad and her Nana a china doll maker/painter.
Sams practice is based on still life, building compositions & stories using her ever growing collection of ceramics & textiles. Sam enjoys growing her own flowers in ever expanding cottage garden. Sam also enjoys visiting local nurseries and florists for inspiration & discovering new varieties. Sam uses flowers in her work to tell her story by styling her compositions with personality & gesture.
