The Blink exhibition tells a story of a change in Sams life as a mother of two boys. The collection talks about what it feels like to realise some beautiful moments of parenthood have finished.

 

Within Sams work you will see flora and textiles representing characters & activities such as piggy backs, holding hands and playing dress ups. 

​

Sam makes comment on these changes within a household setting with shapes, toys and bags. These items represent the bagging up and giving away, forever in Sams case. 

This exhibition is a transition from making the decision to finish the family at 2 children and moving through to the next stage of nurturing her children's independence.

​

'My collections will often talk about personal a life event. These paintings are  a combination of my moving through to the next stage of motherhood with my two sons & watching my older sister (online) with her first baby in NZ. Activities I need to say goodbye to with my children but now experiences I get to enjoy as an aunty'.
